July 2017 Market News

Fellow stallholders. Well, it’s been a while since we sent out a newsletter and there have been some interesting changes so read on. AGM.

Thank you to all those that attended the AGM and those that put in apologies, we had a good turnout and we have changes to our committee. As you all know Charlene has been our Chairperson for the last four years and she has done a superb job but she felt it was time for a change so we now have Jenny Lyall (JL Mosaics) as our new chairperson.

Winter Markets

The weather wasn’t that great at our first market in our new winter/wet weather market venue. It’s still a step in the right direction to make sure we have everything sorted for the rest of the pop-ups and any weather issues in the summer market season. 7th October through to 24th February.

It was great to have new faces joining us, we hope you will join us again for our next POP UP on the 2 September. Same time 10.30am- till 2.30pm. It was lovely to catch up with our regulars as well and see what they have been making over the winter months.

The Council did us proud by providing lighting and power which makes such a difference. Thanks Council|

Stallholder Profiles.   Memory Makers

I’ve been involved with the market since day one and really love the comeradery amongst the stallholders. I’ve made some really good friends stallholders and customers alike over the past four years.  I used to make jams and chutneys but decided I needed to change direction so I now make windmills and wind chimes made from glass beads.  I do custom pieces and will work with the client to get exactly what they imagine their piece to be.  I also make barrel art with the help of my husband KT.

If you would like to have your profile on our next newsletter send details to Chris at chrisandkeith@slingshot.co.nz Happy Crafting. Chris

Summer Markets

This is very exciting, we have our new venue (The Quays at Riverside Park) being put into shape as I write this. There will be several outlets for power, a water tap, toilets (to be updated later) seating, trees, a beautiful river gliding by but what is the most important aspect of this site is, we will be on view from so many different roads. We are working on bringing our storage shed around from the Wynen Street site, we may need a working bee for this, and we will keep you posted. The site wont be ready for our first market on the 7th October and we will be staying undercover in the car park building at Alfred Street.

We are hoping the site will be finished by the end of October.

We need to encourage as many stallholders as we can to our grand opening and every market to show Blenheim what talent we have right here in Blenheim. The new site will be awesome. A huge thank you to the Council.
